In Search of the Spirit of Monroe Morton

Before I return to Washington, DC, I first pay respects to Monroe B. Morton, the celebrated African American who founded the legendary Morton Theater in Athens where such musical luminaries as Cab Calloway and Duke Ellington performed. Monroe rests calmly, serenely, peacefully in the Gospel Pilgrim Cemetery just east of downtown Athens next to the Springfield Baptist Church. Monroe and Orf are now making plans in the Other World for a night of rapture and music on Halloween.
