When everything we do and everything we say goes viral

For those of us who revel in the total embrace of the social media, we have transformed our everyday lives into 24/7 cultural experiments: leaving behind us a documented, archived, mapped, tagged trail of everywhere we have been, everything we have said, every thought. You might think of it as an über-happening in which we are all active-participants of a collective performance in the maze-like grid of Facebook or twitter or foursquare or whatever. In the total embrace of the social media we are all savvy broadcasters, wireless journalists detailing everything and nothing all around us. If you could magically aggregate the simultaneity of this ubiquitous happening, you would be omnipresent, omniscient, or perhaps even omnipotent. So who is the audience in this viral opera of the everyday life? The house is dark.
